A poor decision made under difficult circumstances is still a poor decision. Anybody in this industry should understand that. Therefore, I don't care if you don't take kindly to me explaining the truthful history and consequences of the decisions made. If you want someone to pretty up the story so it looks better for you, please ask someone else.
I don't think anyone is going to change your mind that mainline Pilots sold Scope but maybe your intransigence will help us educate other Pilots. I along with 1300 buddies, were furloughed while DCI was hiring hundreds of Pilots. We were there and lived through it probably experiencing the harshest fallout of the whole RJ debacle.
What I find amusing is that those of us who lived through this issue are now told by someone that we "Sold Scope" for pay increases. Who exactly sold Scope? The 1300 furloughee's? You know that we are all "evil mainline Pilots now. The guys who took a 42% pay cuts?
You don't have to live through something to be knowledgeable about it and I am sure many of your contemporaries have a good basic knowledge about how it went down and yet you seem to cling to the bumper sticker saying of "Mainline Pilots sold Scope." As I have said repeatedly - mistakes were made and it would be great if we today's knowledge back in the 1990s.
The issue is far more complicated and nuanced then the bumper sticker mentality that you keep repeating. The fact that you keep repeating this makes me believe you are only parroting what you have heard and have not really done much serious research into the issue. Fact is DAL had minimal restrictions on Scope prior to 1996. Scope got out of control in the 2000s and we have been slowly correcting ever since. Please do some of your own research and come back and educate us - you know the guys who were furloughed due to Scope mistakes and fill us in on how we "Sold Scope."
