Even in NY those are not true. Im from western NY, Buffalo region, and starting teacher salary is around $35K. My gf is a teacher down in Washington DC, she's in her second year and making just over $40K.
I was just looking at teacher salaries last night, and even down by NYC starting salaries appear to be right in the neighborhood of $50K, which in that area has the spending power of about $30K on my side of the state.
It's all relative, but it's not the rosy picture some people on here try to paint for us convincing us our gig is so terrible.
Yeah, and teachers also get to be home every night, have every weekend off, have every holiday off, and get summers off!! It's all relative....but for the amount of time on the road that pilots are gone for, we are not compensated fairly....especially at the regionals!
