I'm sure any lawyer worth his salt could multiply your guarantee by your current Captain rate (he would argue with normal progression she would upgrade) and divide by two. Write that number into the settlement as a monthly payout and you have a "medical" retirement.

She may receive a one time payout but that's not a medical retirement, (long term disability). If you qualify to fly you won't keep getting long term disability. Any settlement won't be called a medical retirement.
