Of course it makes a difference. One could have a question in their mind of what they heard if it was any random person. Was it a couple fighting, a drunken married couple, a group of kids playing a joke, not sure, how involved do I get? Well, calling security might make me feel I did enough. My fellow crew member is not one of those questionable situations. I'm protecting him or her, and making sure that person is alright.
