Holds are a basic and easy skill. Even if you mess it up, 90% of the time ATC won't notice, or maybe won't even care.

As far as DME, DME/Arc approaches, they have to be attached to a VOR or LOC. You need something for the lateral guidence in combination to the DME itself. Plenty of them around. My favorite ones are VOR/DME RNAV approaches using a KNS80.
