Envoy is back in Miami and has taken back a small portion of AA flying. I believe just one or two destinations in the Bahamas. They are also in the process of getting their EOW certification for their 175s. So no telling if they will take over all the flying in Miami once that’s all done.
We are owned by all 3 majors plus embraer if I remember correctly. However, we only fly for AA out of Miami. If AA chooses to let Envoy takeover all of the Miami flying then the Republic Miami base will probably close.
On a side note, Miami is a huge recruiting tool for Republic. Many FOs show up wanting the Miami base so if that closed that would hurt our hiring numbers.
Miami is base one of the top reasons I’m looking at RAH. RAH recruiters came to my school and were very honest about it as far as seniority for that base.
At the time, they said that it was taking 1.5-2 years to hold MIA as an FO. Shortly after, I’d upgrade at the 2.5-3 year mark. Then as a CA, it’d take over 2 years to get back to MIA. In 6 years with the company, I’d be MIA base for about 1-1.5 years.
This is not the most ideal situation, but I know that I’d hold MIA at some point during my time with the company which is worth something. I also appreciated the recruiter’s honesty.
