It doesn't seem like the management at TK would make the decision to do this. This idea had to come from Labor Relations in Chicago. I won't be surprised to see a grievance on this and I would personally stay away from applying to something like this until we hear more from the MEC.
TK is currently cancelling Line Pilot MVs and LOEs that sit in PI overtime and go unfilled. They are very short PIs. They just hired a crap ton but there are limited transition/upgrade courses going on right now, which new PIs need to observe/teach. (plenty of MV/LOEs, but that is not what new PIs learn on).

And PLEASE don't start the whole "manpower negative" narrative. That's just a union word for limiting a pilot's ability to make some serious cheddar.
"More jobs! more jobs"!! WHY? We owe everything to every pilot on the seniority list. We owe NOTHING to guys who WANT to be on the seniority list (until they get hired). 1950s BS union rules that limit productivity only increase the Company's costs and make them uncompetitive....which of course leads to furloughs (so much for jobs!)

I admire SWAPA. They once sent a letter to their Company basically saying "QUIT HIRING PILOTS"!! The line pilots were squawking about the lack of overtime and open time. LOL. Can you imagine that here at ol' UAL?? At that same time, we still had an 83 hour CREDIT (not actual) cap. That just inflated our ranks. Lots of hiring. But when the crap hit the fan, we furloughed 2200 pilots. Hmmmm.
