You are missing the bigger picture here...
Everyone whines and complains about a lack of interest in aviation these days. But social media, go-pros, Instagram, YouTube, FB, cockpit selfies, etc are all helping to renew an interest in aviation.
20 years ago the only way to know exactly what went on in a cockpit was to actually ride in one. Now there are thousands of youtube videos of pilots flying all types of aircraft.
This is huge for the industry because it allows people who were previously unable to experience it to now be able to experience it. Many will attempt to make a career in aviation because of easy access to see what a pilot actually does.
Yes I know that many of my fellow millenials are snowflakes, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
