That is absolute BS. NO airline seeks to incur the costs of training pilots for the purpose of eventually failing them. And right now, pretty much every airline is desperate to get more fannies in seats. What is more the case is that the industry has reached the point where they’re having to skim through the dregs just to come up with one half-decent pilot. Sad, but true. If you don’t believe me then start asking the sim instructors at all the other regionals. They’re all suffering from trying to teach people who have no business in the cockpit of a jet. SkyWest and Endeavor have a little higher ground to stand on, but the rest are all in pretty much the same boat as Mesa. I’m not going to defend Mesa management on any issue. But, your claim that Mesa is “training people to fail” indicates that either the instructors lack the integrity to see that the process is fair or, that they would be willing to follow management direction to fail trainees for any other reason than because they suck at flying. Any reasonable person, and especially one who knows well over half of the Mesa instructors, immediately realizes how ridiculous your post is on so many levels. Before you write this kind of stuff, please just ask yourself what you’d rather do ... fail a person who is a marginal performer, or be the guy to reluctantly sign somebody off who later flies passengers into the ground? If I were walking in their shoes I know what l’d do.
