The lost decade- 2000s- stalled many careers. Post 9/11. 2008 Market crash... low wages. People were fed up and found more happiness and money elsewhere. Unfortunately, it took a deadly airline accident in early 2009 to change much of that. Couple that with mass retirements at the major airline level and it has become the greatest pilot hiring market we've ever seen. And for a while. It's all timing.
