Let’s get one thing clear: it is not correct that the MD plug can only hold narrowbody. The plug on the 765B in NYC is at nearly 13,000!

Also, I get tired of talking to people that have disdain for those that choose to VD. It is not a bad thing to VD and for some it makes sense. If I am 100 from the bottom on the 88A, I can hold around 50% on the ER in most bases. This is particularly true in LAX and SEA. If a 51-100 M88A pilot lives west of the Mississippi, I can understand that may be a better option vs going back to reserve in ATL.

It is also worth pointing out that ATL will see few to no displacements from MSP since MSP pilots will have new 320/73N Captain seats to displace to. Those that choose to stay on the 88 will stay at the bottom for a while before they get displaced. Bottom reserve on a dying fleet sucks.

There is more to these situations than just a free seat lock boys and girls.
