For those that haven’t seen it. The pressure on the captains has gone on for a while and I’m glad it is now part of the greater public record. News agencies and the outside world now have access to what Envoy has been doing. We already figured out it cost 25lbs of fuel to haul an extra 500lbs on a 750 trip... very cheap premium for an insurance policy. If Envoy has one fuel emergency making the news this story will be everywhere in hours and the public is going to choke on it. I mentioned in another thread about making the pilot group harder to manage than herding cats. Perfect example here. Don’t waste your time going to the union... reach outside for any real change. Kudos to those that called the FAA.
FAA Presence Around Envoy System
The MEC has received reports that during this week the FAA was in Miami interviewing Captains on fuel and other issues. We are not yet aware of the scope and size of the FAA presence, or if it's limited to Miami. From initial reports, the inspectors are asking our Captains a list of several dozen questions regarding fuel, company policies, and their experiences.
We strongly encourage truthful participation should you encounter an inspector. Many of you have taken the time to tell ALPA that you feel rushed and pushed by the Company, often to the detriment of safety. Take the time to answer the FAA's questions as honestly and fully as you can. If you are tight on time, politely explain your schedule to the inspector, and offer the opportunity to follow up later. If the inspector insists and a delay is inevitable, please be sure to document it via email to your ALPA rep(s) and via M51.
