If this is the case, their thought process seems a bit shortsighted if not completely stupid to me. They're saying they want to slow growth and not order new airplanes, which take several years to get, because fuel prices are high right now? What if they wait to order new planes when fuel is cheap but its expensive several years later when the planes show up. Not ordering planes, for whatever reason, in the past has put them in the bind they are in now in regards to not being able to get any delivery slots from Airbus. I have a hard time believing the recent spike in fuel makes them want to slow growth in the future.
