In other words... if he were a 5th-year guy ($135/tfp), he would have made slightly more. Should he choose to, he could fly more and make a lot more... hence the question whether United WB FO's can choose to fly more other than just depending on 75 hour guarantee.

Like ANG says, work rules/rigs make all the difference in the world.
The difference between your friend and half wings example.... is the SWA guys have to hustle for it. WB FO your effort goes into not going to work and making that money from home (or your boat, golf course, etc).

At SWA you’ll never have another option either.
