I'm intimately familiar with "duty to represent". And I've had to rep some of the biggest dirt bags that could carry a union card.
Duty to represent actually doesn't exist (in the Department of Labor context) in SAPA, to my knowledge.
But, you read into what I've said however you want. Maybe you'll get your beloved ALPA in a few hours, and it won't matter. Then all our ills will be solved.
I heard a good story today about a SkyWest pilot. He left us for another major airline, and then, a few months later, quit the new airline and asked to come back.
Company said no. Oh, by the way, he also sued the company (SkyWest) for something on his way out the door.
I wonder if he's confused why they won't go out of their way to get him back?
I really don't want to continue this debate, but I'll leave you with this somewhat rhetorical question. Why would you come from decades of ALPA membership, and even apply to SkyWest? Mesa is hiring, amongst lots of other ALPA carriers.
