I've always thought that if you're going to insult somebody in writing, you should at least try to spell correctly to bolster your own position. And really, do you think he's advocating getting paid $19 per hour? As someone who's doing it now, I can say there is absolutely no joy in getting paid that kind of money, and I'd be hard pressed to find anybody who disagrees. That said, that's just how it is. Pretty much every airline I can think of pays significantly less the first year, unionized or not. They might just do it because they can, they might do it to offset training costs, they might do because we're on probation, whatever. What I try to keep in mind is that it does get better, and railing against everyone for flying around at $19/hr is a tad bit disingenuous. I knew what I was getting into, tried to plan accordingly, and so far it's working out. I would think most people would do the same.

On a side note, the $19 rate, miserable as it is, is still competitive with the rest of industry, particularly when you take our work rules into account. I'm not defending it, but it's not like the evil scab anti-union pilots of SkyWest are selling everyone out and dragging the whole industry down.

I would say, though, that the ball is in SkyWest's court. I'd say the majority of the pilot group has shown their "loyalty" to them, and if they are who they say they are, I'd expect some good things in the near future.
