I meant he did his time and was released, but I see your point that he carries the felon label deservedly so. He seems to carry the traits with him still.
Dictionary.com: Once a person has been convicted of a felony, he or she can be considered a felon for life, according to the strict meaning of the word. (The term ex-felon, for example, is rarely used.)
