I understand that some of you bus guys didn't want to work for Alaska but were you really that naive to think that Virgin was going to be a career airline?
Those with full pensions shouldn’t lose those. Those with the pension split should be able to opt out to the 401k side with their pension portion cashed out into the 401k. Those of us with the 401k should fight to get it improved. However, the Kasher award happened because someone thought it was a bright idea to put arbitration into a contract. That same clause will keep us from ever obtaining scope and job protections. 3 arbitrators already ruled in favor of the company on that topic.
As far as working hard to get to AS? I’m pretty sure not everyone worked hard to get to there. That’s the case for all airlines. Same with VX. As far as VX for a career? Yeah, many of us thought VX would be around for a long time. It was Branson’s vision for 1 world 1 airline. But money speaks louder than vision and here we are. For better or for worse. We all, and yes all of us, received substantial raises back in November. We all benefited from this whole process well before we could have. That needs to be understood by everyone.
What we need to do is take the horses back to the barn and all ride out at the same time in the same direction. No one side is better than the other. Big change has happened. We’re pilots and we’re gonna *****.
