Sure you should have. They are positively a staple of APC. The wilder the better. And even the worst of them are better than what's going on on the Alaska Seniority thread right now as the Alaska and former Virgin pilots debate integration of their seniority lists.
Cripes, I've shot at and been shot at by people I didn't dislike near as much as some of those 'fellow' pilots clearly hate their new peers. Hopefully tempers will cool before it comes to that.
But rumors? Heck, they are a constant source of entertainment - sort of like whispering messages around the circle at a party to see how the signal to noise ratio gets fouled up.
I say go for it.
