When I was at Republic, I was told by the FOQA people that it doesn't register taxi speed until flaps are "UP"...hence how it can tell you're on a high speed. Go home legs would normally see us taxiing in with flaps accidentally set to 1. While at CP, I never knew if that was how they collected the data or not. I always took high speeds, especially in LA, at whatever speed we made the high speed and wouldn't call for flaps up until off all the runways.
Somehow they knew I had crossed the threshold at 45kt with one hand on the tiller and the other holding a cup of coffee... sheesh talk a about big brother
