I dont believe I said that I "never" tip. My main sticking point in this entire stupid thread is that people are making rash judgments about people based off whether they have a buck on them or not.
In all honesty, I try and take care of my own bags, but I still end up tipping about 50% of the time, usually when I have the cash on me. If I have no cash on me, I am way more diligent about taking care of my own stuff.
If people are noticing, they are not saying anything, acting any differently or dropping trips with me over it, so really at the end of the day, why should I care? I am good person that works hard and treats people fairly, but I also have this horrible tendency to be "realistic" and not overtly judgmental at the drop of a hat with little to no evidence.
If I implied I "never" tip, my apologies, I either was playing the devils advocate or misspoke. To the point you were making about a buck a bag, I am certain that is not normal and just because you may live by that creed, certainly doesn't make it the norm, at least not with flight crews. I will add though to this last point that my reference is at the regional level, so if you are some mainline crew, then things may be different.
Also, I will leave this here.

They on average make more than a fast food worker, hourly, but yet we dont tip the McDonalds staff.
