The military's success compared to the government unions has absolutely nothing to do with one being union and the other not. In fact, if you REALLY want to get into it, ask yourself why the thing you saying is the best in the world is essentially the closest thing in the United States to socialism.
And maybe we reject socialism because it is the closest thing to being in the military (but without volunteering).
