Earned, especially if said Veteran served in combat. These things are not GIVEN to these men and women. They are payment for the freedoms we all enjoy due to their risk and sacrifice. I’m not a big fan of the military folks scooping up so many of the airline jobs, but the things mentioned above don’t bother me. I’m glad my tax money helps pay for these things.
Whether they are earned or not, it's still a socialist like system that everyone demonizes.
And I hate to burst the bubble of people who think the military is infallible, there are some people in the military who don't "deserve" it. The fact is, if you can get through basic training, no matter how worthless of a human you are, you are almost virtually guaranteed a retirement.
