Im with you- I wanted a split. Now I get 2 weeks paid and can use the pto monthly to get an extra day.
I understand the broader argument, but the split is prob what the survey indicated.
The survey likely showed some wanted a split and some didn't.
Most of us expected more TOTAL days/hours off of work per year. So, that is the context behind a split system. To have a separate sick bank, like most of our peers, to use when actually sick. The expected increase in total PTO many imagined would be used to build that sick bank.
Well it didn't happen. We literally get no additional total hours/days off work for sick/Vaca. We just get less flexibility on how to use them.
Yes, I know, you like it because it forces some discipline on yourself to guarantee you get two weeks of vacation. The exact same two weeks you could have had before if you choose not to use your PTO in other ways. Now you have that discipline forced on you via limits on how you CAN use your same total PTO hours.
You like the forced discipline, many others just see less flexibility.
Again, not a judgement on the AIP, I literally may end up voting YES after I see the totality and evaluate our circumstances in context. I'm just giving you the compare and contrast with the current system.
