Do Delta pilots ever volunteer to sit in the FA jumpseat to get an offline pilot home?
I feel like I do that a lot at 9E but every time I’m waiting next to the gate for a Delta flight in uniform on a full flight and praying people don’t show up I see a Delta pilot who listed online blow by and not even make eye contact.
I know it’s not ideal but a flight from NYC to Bos isn’t really that long to help a commutter out.
I tried to do this last night Jfk to mco however the gate agent gave me the "we don't have time to change you to that" and closed out the flight. Unfortunately the gate agents are under huge pressure to close out the flights on time, which is 10 minutes early, and in JFK they have 5 minutes knocked off the clock even though the departure time says the posted time.
