I was that passenger, while traveling DTW-SEA-ANC with the military last year. My boss, who was 15 rows in front of me on a 739 (I was in the last row), made it on with 15 minutes to go. I showed up at 12 minutes and the door was closed... No soup for the 15 of us standing there that ran from the same flight. The flight left with tons of open seats and landed 20 minutes early. That's some great customer service right there...I was embarrassed to be a Delta employee at that moment.

I knew complaining at the gate when the agent came back was futile. I quickly stepped over to the red phones and got the last seat on the next flight to ANC. The following flight was oversold. I sat and listened as the rest of the pax got tickets for the next day (losing a day of their vacation), and one poor girl was sent back to MSP then to ANC to still get there the next day. All in the name of D0...
