I've worn different versions of those at two different airlines and when the clip mechanism was properly locked, never had it slide out.

Probably bad luck.

Anyways I don't wear it anymore. The United one I got, the standard length, is too long and I'm almost 6'. Poor execution on their part.

I wore it anyways for a while and then decided to just go back to my normal tie.
