Sure, they can look it up... why not cause more work for another co-worker.
And when you ask "Under which section of the contract is this pay claim being denied?" they will quote section 5-C-1-j ...”When submitting a pay claim for such Add Pay, a Pilot must provide supporting documentation, including but not limited to the reservation number, the seat actually occupied, and a description of the event.”
