As for the bigger picture, given the high demand for regional pilots, I doubt it would be a deal breaker at that level. At the majors, it could be used as a discriminator if they’re on the fence about hiring you.
Because no pilot ever has been ruined financially either by the economy or their ex. Yes they can use it as a factor until the supply dries up. However, this career has been known to destroy people's finances. To the OP: apply and get a job. We need you (esp if you're an instant CA upgrade).
