Personally I looked at what the hiring bonus was and calculated the cost of doing it on my own and did it that way.

I did already have 1600 heli, private fixed wing with 150 hours though so I just needed 100 hours and some add on ratings.

I wasn't tied to an indentured servant contract however and that is priceless...

I also did all that before anyone had these transition programs. I found a Cessna 150 with a dry rate of $40 an hour and banged around in that for most of the 100 hours needed, did a split the cost deal on the multi and found a job flying a piper arrow xc for the rest of the hours.
