In major metro areas, any actual campgrounds will be expensive, they mostly cater vacationers, not residents although you might find longer-term rates intended for retirees. Even storage lots can be $400+, and you can't live there.

This would work better in a less metro area, with cheaper campgrounds or possibly places you could just park.
