Factored into those bogus numbers are military spending and all other federal spending in each state. CA booted almost all military bases a couple of decades ago so of course they'll claim they're a net payer.
Another item computed into net payer/receiver status is social security. Well, the problem with that is many Californians leave California when they retire because of the cost of living.
This fake 'statistic' has been debunked multiple times but keeps getting regurgitated.
