Taking this seriously for a second, from a purely analytical perspective it makes sense to have multiple outstation bases with early starts and late finishines.
That doesn’t take into account the fact that pilots are human beings and neither wish to move to MKE/CAE/GSO/ATW/DAY or make a 2 leg commute the night before, or fly schedules with a nice circadian swap halfway through.
I’d love to see contractual protections in our “next” TA requiring 70% or more of our pilots to be domiciled at airports where our mainline partner has crew domiciles.
