The rumor I keep hearing is that the new planes could be yanked from Mesa and United is actively searching for a new operator for them.
Mesa right now is on a 6-7 month training period for new hires on the Ejet.
But absolutely, the regional owning the aircraft helps prevent the whipsaw from happening. However, I just think Republic is at the mass were they gladly take aircraft without having ownership of them if they can get a long enough contract for them.
All 60 of Mesa’s Ejets are flying per the flow board. We are in compliance with United’s CPA and we are picking up flying that Xjet can’t cover - flying 1200 more hours in August than July.
Go to any major maintenance base and you will see jets at the maintenance hangar.
I can’t really speak to the training profile. We are more than covering our flying with FO’s. We are short CA’s, but it only takes 3 weeks for an FO to be in IOE for an upgrade (175 to 175).
It will be interesting to see who gets these 175’s. 5 years ago, Mesa wasn’t flying any. Now, our COO indicates we are in the running for these 25.
