That does happen and it means they are trying to clarify something in your application. Can't answer about time for interview call as I don't know.
You need to have a good command of written and spoken English to do well at Emirates. The new pilots that have been having trouble recently can almost all be traced back to inability to fully understand what is in writing in the manuals and what is discussed in class.
