SKYW has proven time and time again that their intention is to completely wipe ExpressJet out. At every pivotal "fork in the road" where "something good can happen" for ExpressJet it has always turned out that the opposite happens and SkyWest somehow benefits.
Easier said than done. At this point, I'm not ready to give up my seniority for a lateral move. Might as well ride the ship down than do that.
I'm considered "untrainable" by the legacy carriers, plus my GPA from college way back when was less than a 3.0 so I'll never get to wear a double-breasted jacket.
The ULCC's and cargo carriers I've applied to haven't responded. I'm told they are afraid of pilots like me doing a "touch and go". Getting the type and taking off.
So at this point, I'm "resigned" to going to the ERJ. My hope is that the training event will make one of the legacy carriers reconsider me. Worst case I will have something to fly for at least 2-3 more years and another type rating.
