Las Vegas 25L is just another one of those quirky arrivals that is non standard. Approach keeps you high and tells you to go fast to the marker (and never tells you to slow down by the way) so you have to throw the gear out to 12 miles out etc. The non standard things you have to do make you feel like you are doing something wrong and makes you feel like a rookie but you get used to it as normal for that runway. LAX 25L and 24R can be the same way when they switch you to another runway at the last minute. Not to mention the slamdunks into ATL and DTW. Can't forget ORD telling pilots to keep 210 (or even 250!) to the marker on 04R. Those approaches weren't made to be flown at 250 but... Just ask some guys about JFK arrivals too.
Do what you have to do. Be safe. Plan ahead. Know your airplane. Remember what you got last time.
