Those two on the left of the photo are either too cheap to have the stripe removed or their egos are too fragile to accept the fact that they're now first officers. Either way, it doesn't reflect favorably on either of them.
I guess that during my five years of furlough, I should've walked around wearing my uniform. I was a first officer forced back to the street by the reduction in fleet size.
Have the stripe removed? I'm not sure how your uniform is, but that would not work for NWA's. Who cares how many stripes are on the jacket anyway? It's the paycheck that counts.
It's true that it probably has a lot to do with money. A lot of our Captains bid off the DC-9 and 320 to go fly FO on the 330 or 747. Rather than pay $250 x 2 for a new jacket, I guess the company (FOM) allows them to continue to wear the jacket. No frail egos, just frail finances.....
