SC is a puppet for Barry and his cronies. A good leader is the first one on the battle field and the last one off. He’s someone who wouldn’t ask anything of his men that he himself wouldn’t do first. A chief pilot should have a pair and back the pilot group. SC is afraid of his bosses. He would roll over all of us to keep his little office job.

Arbitrarily setting limits on sick calls after the fact (because Barry cracked his whip) is not affective leadership. A real chief pilot would have listened to managements complaints, met with ALPA leadership and discussed possible solutions. If they came to an agreement to begin disciplining pilots for “excessive sick calls” they should have first informed the pilots that it had become an issue. An email stating from this point forward we will begin documenting the number of sick days used in a rolling 12 months, 20 days is the threshold before disciplinary action will be taken etc. As a show of good faith and since no one was aware of their transgressions everyone’s slates are whiped clean as of today.

SC’s leadership style is changing the culture of this airline. It’s one thing to work for 40% less than our peers but we should not have to tolerate the disrespect shown to our pilot group over the last few months. He is going to end up with a dumpster fire and not a single pilot willing to **** on it to put it out.
