Start work at 4 in the afternoon fly three segments finish at 1030 pm . Second day two segments finishing late again with min rest to swap to earlies, another min rest day to hopefully finish by 1 pm commute home jump seat because of basic economy fares all the flights are now full, to be at my house by 5 pm . 2 days off with scheduling calling on the last day off upto 4 times trying to make you answer so they can start you early . This means commuting in on a day off . Expect to spend 5 thousand that first year on hotels, food, unless you eat like crap and don’t mind being a fat regional pilot . While on build up lines expect to commute in the night before so on your day off and finish late day four . You guessed it one full day at home to start again. If you live in PHL things are better with 11 days off . Expect the lines to be played with , expect to see some lines with 13 days off but running more days than other lines , so effectively still getting 11 days off .
Welcome to the airlines. Especisllly commuting at a regional. Be glad you weren’t on reserve for 4 years, half of it at a base with a 2 leg commute.
