What can prevent them from say, having everyone spend 45 minutes with a shrink during recurrent or during your annual medical. We are already required to get a physical; what the difference from the FAA saying let’s check their brains too? I’m sure there’s a lot of pilots out there that would feel more comfortable knowing that they were able to talk to somebody without maybe repercussions or be able to get help instead of hiding something.

We should be thankful this guy went out by himself. I for one don’t want to see an American version of Germanwings before the FAA finally does something about mental health.
