Remember that they are getting rid of the 190, MD-80s, and 757/767. Also, 777-200s will start being replaced by 787. G4 retirements won’t cause as many cycles in the future.

The company does have a few levers it’s pulling.
Simplifying the fleet will help. But those types which get parked will cause about 3,000 pilots initially that will have to go through retraining. That is in addition to the mandatory retirements. You help make my case. We saw with last year’s wave of Mad Dog aircraft parking plugging up the Schoolhouse because of all the retraining, causing a near stoppage of hiring for a couple of months.
