“Negotiations
As we communicated recently, we have begun more formal negotiations with our management and the company has committed to an aggressive bargaining timeline. We made our initial pass two weeks ago and recently received a pass back from the company. Your Negotiating Committee was in the process of examining the company's proposal when they were presented with the promise of E175s in exchange for quickly reaching an agreement on a contract that will provide a "cost structure to win this batch of E175-SCs." While we are prepared to pursue negotiations in this expedited manner, we want to be clear when we say that we will not concede to a substandard contract in exchange for promises and distractions disguised as shiny new jets. It's time for ExpressJet pilots to have a market-rate contract that is in-line with our peers across the fee-for-departure (FFD) industry, and we do not believe attaining this is incompatible with a successful bid for the new aircraft.”
I’m new to this whole union thing, but it sounds like pretty standard stuff... yes we want the plane but we’re not going to bend over. Just posturing. Not criticizing anyone, it’s just part of the negotiating game.
