That's odd, the mandatory retirements doesn't come close to replacing half of the list in 7 years. My math says we will only replace 1152 pilots, a little more than a thousand short of half.
Annual hiring since 2016 has been outpacing annual retirement numbers, so just counting mandatory retirements wouldn't account for the "statistic".
