Everything is fine and dandy right now, but I’m worried about what I’m going to do when upgrade rolls around. Earliest available upgrade occurs around 2.5 years from DOH. This has been dropping, and hopefully it’ll stabilize at the 2 year mark.
The issue I’ve got is, earliest available upgrade as of right now is in EWR. That place sucks balls. It’s delayed all the time and way too many people everywhere. There’s no way I would commute there from IAH...all the flights are mainline United and every time I deadhead they are fully booked with 15+ on standby. If you’re commuting you won’t get on! LGA isn’t much better; also a junior CA base.
If I wait an additional few months I could hold PIT; that would be ok. I would live in base and pseudo-commute to Texas a couple times a month. But as of right now the time to hold a decent base like MCI or IAH is just going to take too long. I think if I’m going to stick around for the upgrade, I need to see some improvement in IAH.
Spirit now flies IAH-EWR, that seems to be helping.
