If you really believe the company went into BK court to "steal pensions", I feel for you. We were almost out of business completely. We had to file. Did they take more than required? Probably. But I remember when a Captain was attending "In Command" class and asked Anderson why they went after our pensions. He said "Why don't you talk to your union Chairman, it was his idea."
Obviously there were a number of factors that led the company to declare bankruptcy. But if you don’t think getting rid of the pension was at the top of the list then you need to adjust your thinking.
As far as Anderson’s comments to that Captain. What a crock of BS. Was Anderson even here for the bankruptcy exit contract? I think that was all Gerry Grinstein. There is no way our MEC chair would have, out of the blue, suggested we terminate our DB without any indication from management that they were gonna seek termination. See my first paragraph.
