Gee... I really miss the MREs... especially the Chef-Boy-R-D raviolli.
While on layovers, and if near a super market, I am able to buy salad fixings along with fresh cooked chicken, fruit, and raw vegetables to nibble on. I try to stay away from the forzen foods to avoid the excess sodium and fats. Also plenty of H2O to wash out the Haute Cuisine. You have better controls over your intake and less risk for food poisoning from pre-prepared crewmeals.
