What a head scratcher. So now I can't use a flaps setting on the airplane? I guess when I get slowed to 150 kts 30nm from LAX with stall protect ice I'm supposed to throw the gear out... 30 miles from the runway...
Not to mention the issues with flaps full if 4 is prohibited.
While I totally agree with you and have in the past used it, this is from Embraer actually. Only the jungle jet would have a flap setting you have to skip when configuring for landing. Honestly never heard of another aircraft where this was the case.
I mean flaps 4 and 5 are the same technically. Would it be a problem to use flaps 5 when you have to and just deal with the endless aural warning for operational necessity? I mean we have all gotten it at least once. Just a little too quick on calling flaps 5, set Vapp, landing check before the gear was locked. To me, it was never a big deal. Whoops need to wait a second longer. Just thinking outside the box. I’m sure I’d get a FOQA call.
