No, it was a pure judgment call, a decision had to be made. I know its 2018 but I refuse to constantly say he/she. We all get it. There are 2 genders and in the case of a neutral referent to gender, which is usually clear enough from context, or in the case where gender is irrelevant to the point, I say who cares. Its English, not Greek, where there are neutral pronouns. In English, we have no 2nd person plural so the south gave us 'Y'all' which my wife cringes at when I say, but we lived in the south for a year once so I feel like I've earned it. We also dont use neutral gender pronouns, and the Male 'he' has always been used that way up until MSNBC or Hilary Clinton or Oprah or somebody decided it wasnt legitimate. But this is 'Merica you liberal bloodsuckers. And I will proudly MAGA by bringing back the neutral 3rd singular, 'he'.
