Let me put it in perspective, at least my perspective.

Corporate can run the spectrum from some of the worst to some of the best flying jobs out there. I had two very good corporate jobs. One lasted 5 years, one lasted 3 years. I was lucky, they were both excellent jobs. Before those jobs and in between I did a lot of 135. One very good part 135 job that I would recommend to young pilots wanting to get experience.

I’m about halfway through my career age wise with tons of jet pic, some international. I have no degree. Yah, I know, big mistake but I’m working on that now.

When I found out my job was going away and considering the state of the industry I realized that if I’m going to pursue a major airline position, now is the time. I can always go back to corporate.

My plan is to apply for the best and take the best that I can get while working hard to make myself as marketable as I can. I almost immediately got an interview with a regional and I was offered a job. I’m taking it and I’ll work hard to do better. In the meantime this regional job isn’t bad all things considered and compared to F9, for me, it will honestly be better.

If I lived in a F9 domicile it would be a tougher choice but when you look at the numbers, F9 looks pretty much like the regionals minus the bonus. For a three or four year job I’d rather take the bonus and the quick upgrade to Captian so I can position myself best for the potential to get on with a major.

I’ve got a lot more to say about all this but I’m going to stop here and spend some time with my family.

Cheers!
